I graduated in business administration/commerce from the HSG in St. Gallen and have since worked within the banking/finance industry in line management or consulting, working for various international and national consulting firms and as an intern at the former SKA (now Credit Suisse) and for 10 years as a member of the executive board (COO) at AIG Private Bank (now Falcon Private Bank).Today, together with 3 other partners, I have my own small consulting firm, 4executives ag, in Oerlikon.

We are active in the financial services sector and, in addition to our diverse project work, we are currently involved in digitalisation and the numerous new FinTech offerings, both of which will have a relevant influence on the future of the entire industry.

I was born in 1960, grew up in Solothurn and have been living since 1982 in Meilen on Lake Zurich.

After completing my bank apprenticeship I discovered a passion for the securities business at a small bank in Zurich. While working as a broker at the Zurich Stock Exchange in 1987 I got my first experience of a large stock market crash. This experience has stood me in good stead and taught me not to panic when markets are difficult.

I later transferred to the Private Banking department at one of the major Swiss banks.

Since 1998 I have looked after my own clients at various independent asset manager firms. In view of the ever-changing regulatory environment and the increasing demands made of our industry, I decided to join a firm with a good reputation and one which is well-positioned for the future. That spoke for Invest-Partners Wealth Management.

An experienced team deals with all the administrative and regulatory tasks, leaving me to focus on the needs and demands of my clients. Until becoming an independent Senior Partner with Invest-Partners Wealth Management Ltd, I spent 15 years as advisor to wealthy Swiss clients at a universal bank both in Zurich and on the right-hand shore of Lake Zurich in Küsnacht. Previously I had worked in Zurich for a Japanese bank and one of the large Swiss financial institutions in their securities and investment department.

I am convinced that the most important factor in the relationship between client and advisor is trust. The client must be certain that the advisor makes all decisions to the best of his knowledge and always acts in the interest of the client. He can only achieve this if he adheres unconditionally to the chosen parameters as regards investment strategy, restrictions etc. The client must be convinced that the advisor will look after his assets as if they were his own.

My aim is for a relationship between partners based on trust, in which one party accompanies the other through good times and bad. After 20 years of professional experience as an investment advisor at a universal bank, I joined Invest-Partners in February 2020.

Investing money is a topic with many uncertainties, especially in the current environment. How long will interest rates remain this low? When will the next financial crisis come? The honest answer: we don’t know.

Despite all the risks, I am convinced that a long-term investment promises sustainable returns.

Years of extremes on the financial markets have shaped my investment philosophy and taught me humility.

I maintain a conservative investment style, implemented with traditional investment instruments. For me, achieving regular returns and focusing on the Swiss franc are central cornerstones of a solid investment concept.

I have been advising high net worth individuals and institutional investors since 1983. While working for American investment banks, I passed several stock market exams in NYC.

In college, in addition to the obvious focus on portfolio management, I also paid particular attention to money, credit, fiscal policy and sovereign debt. Since that time, I have followed the “Austrian School” way of thinking and apply this knowledge to my daily work in the financial markets.

For two years from 1997 to 1999 I built up the Czech Republic-based private client business for a European banking group in Prague. This was an exciting and challenging assignment.

I have thus built up many years of experience in private banking.

My last post was as head of wealth management at a firm of lawyers.
